Dr. Arrigo's Journal

GERMANY

My annual trip to Germany’s Medicine Week, traditionally held in Baden Baden, is my perennial professional travel highlight. Besides being the birth place of Naturopathic Medicine, Germany and Medicine Week have led the way in Naturopathy’s education and practice. Most European doctors practicing naturopathy and homeopathy make Medicine Week the highest professional priority in their continuing education. I always return with the latest for my patients, and I promise them that their naturopathic care is second to none.

As for North American Naturopathic Doctors, Medicine Week in Germany is not an annual destination for their continuing education curriculum. Dr. Arrigo wants his patients to know and feel confident that this education week is, in the end, important for them! The knowledge shared at this conference still adheres to the old world philosophy but with modern engineering and technology in medical devices, which, as we all know, is the Germans prime passion.

MONACO

My trip to Monaco’s Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress in March of 2009 was overwhelmingly informative. It was more apparent by every passing moment that I was probably the lone Naturopath in the Princess Grace Congress Hall filled with plastic surgeons and cosmetic doctors. The infrequent, but very welcoming, sites of some antioxidant supplements to fight aging was some semblance that natural medicine has its place in an arena jammed with fillers, Botox, and surgical equipment.

My goal in attending these weekend conventions and seminars is to sift through a sea of very innovative and cutting-edge medicine. The anti-aging medical field is very young and quickly growing. As you can imagine, the demand for the fountain of youth is universal. We may not all want to live forever, nor look wrinkle-free and aesthetically youthful, but I state with certainty that we would all welcome the scientific cure to age-related problems or diseases that ravage all of us with time.

I am, and possibly obsequiously, obsessed with chasing the age old mystery behind aging. For myself, the enticing field of study in the underlying aging pathways that go astray is such an irresistible and passionate infatuation that has taken hold of my inner most drive to cure my patients.

I have, so far, in practice witnessed an exceedingly disproportionate of age-related problems, that could have been prevented with timely and non-invasive medicine, culminate into devastating illnesses and diseases. The ignorance in implementing interventions early in the non-ill state, when health seems to be disease-free, is our medical field’s biggest sin. It is tragic to allow the bad lifestyle habits to slowly propagate into full-blown diseases. All these lifestyle age-related diseases, not including the genetic diseases, can and should be given more import earlier in their development.

We have waited too long! The medical community treats and palliates signs and symptoms supported with strong vested interest by pharmaceutical companies. The intent of all parties involved is genuine on the fundamental level, which is to treat and cure diseases and people, but the visionary acuity to see the forest for the tress is lacking, if not criminal.

I am contnually attempting to include as much discernible information in my Anti-Aging & Aestheic Medicine presentations. The presentations will be updated as frequent as I can gather and process new content.
